Saturday Slice - Grilled Pizza with the Kids

As seen on our kids YouTube Channel, here is the full recipe for our Grilled Pizza:

Ingredients
1 2/3c water
1 pack of instant dry yeast
1/4 c olive oil
5c all purpose flour
2tsp salt
mozzarella cheese
pizza sauce
toppings (pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onions, tomatoes, bacon, etc)

For the dough:
.
  • In a large mixing bowl, pour in the water. Sprinkle the yeast on top. Let stand for a few minutes or until the yeast starts to foam. Mix in the olive oil. Add in the flour and salt. Mix ingredients together until a soft ball forms. This step is easier with a dough hook (or this can be done by hand rolling).  If the mixture is still sticky add a bit more flour until the dough bounces back when poked.
  • Once the dough is formed, remove the dough from the bowl and divide into 8 pieces. Oil a baking sheet. Place the dough onto the sheet and flip them over so each side is coated with oil. Let dough rise for about 1 1/2 hours or until it has doubled in size.

On the grill:

  • Preheat one side of the grill on high and the other side of the grill on low.
  • Once preheated,  take one piece of dough and gently form pizza crust into mini pizza shapes.
  • Once first pizza crust is formed, place on side of grill heated to high.  Let crust cook until crust begins to harden then flip.  Let crust continue to cook until other side begins to harden then flip one more time.
  • Move harden crust to other side of the grill on low heat.
  • Spread pizza sauce evenly on crust then put a layer of cheese on top.
  • Add additional toppings then sprinkle a light amount of cheese on top.
  • Let cook on low until cheese is evenly melted.
  • Repeat steps for remaining pieces of dough.
It was quickly a family favorite!  From our home to yours, we hope you enjoy.  Check out the full video below.
